Connecting and Trusting Your Gut

I used to say that some people were a good judge of character, some people just had a stronger gut instinct, and I just didn’t have that. In the podcast, Under the Skin, the episode with Wim Hoff, I learned of tribal communities celebrating the three brains of humans – brain of belly, brain of heart, and brain of head… The brain of the head is directly translated as a “tangled fishing net” and is only used for problem solving. Don’t live there. Your head brain is a complicated and scary place. Your heart brain Read more…

Self Love & Vulnerability Vid

In transitioning from blog to vlog, I realized there will definitely be some overlap with some of the material I’ve already put out, but it’s forcing me to reexamine what I’ve already written about and say it more clearly and succinctly in video format for a potentially wider audience. Today’s video is on the topic of self-love, which, while I’ve written two pieces on self-love here that you may have already read about, it’s an awesome reminder to have on a regular basis, and there’s definitely some different insights in the video version from things Read more…

Moving to Video!

Today’s post is completely off course from my usual, but after a realization about a week ago, I am looking to switch gears a little bit! I recognized that 90% or more of the information I consume is in audio or video, and so many people I’ve told about this blog have come back to me with the question “audio?” In an effort to keep up, and to respect and honor my own gifts, I want to move this more towards a video and audio effort. I love story-telling, and while writing has become the Read more…

Episode #9: Transformations

We are in a seriously pivotal moment in history because of a major leaning into consciousness and spiritual awakening that we are right on the cusp of. People are talking about their unhappiness, the overworked’ness, and the anger and resentment of like, everybody. As Jim Kwik said, “maybe we’re not burnt out because we’re doing too many things, maybe we’re burnt out because we’re not doing enough of the things that make us feel alive” (Kwik Brain Podcast: Discovering Your Passion & Purpose with guest, Jonathan Fields). Yoga and meditation are being accepted after coming Read more…

Self-Care, Admissions & Affirmations

“Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger; anger leads to hate; hate leads to suffering” – Yoda. After several deep talks with my host parents about conversations I’ve had with the kids recently on hard subjects like: “it’s okay to be sad or angry, but then we have to use our words to express what our feelings are about,” and “it’s okay to laugh at ourselves, and it’s nice when other people laugh with us! We love to laugh, and so if we get to share laughter with someone else, Read more…

Dating, Toxic Relationships & Healthy Love

I’ve had a lot of signs recently pointing me towards writing about one or another of the title subjects. I got an absolute OUTPOUR of support on the mental health entry, so I think maybe I have your attention, and I’m starting to feel more confident in this search for my voice #selflove. The biggest part my journey into self love and self confidence started roughly one year ago, in coming to terms with the fact that the relationship i was in was not only Not serving me, but I was at war with myself Read more…

Mental Health

This is a really emotional piece for me to write today, almost exclusively because I just started “lady week,” as I began calling it during my deployment to Kuwait, so as to make it sound less yucky to the men I was surrounded by. Lady week brought some humor and light-heartedness to my serious emotional outbursts, and to the sensitivity I would suddenly show in response to the same jokes and arguments on and off duty hours that were always made, during the days leading up to and following my period each month. The guys Read more…

Setting Boundaries

I really love to people please. I was pretty convinced – until a couple of years ago when I started to realize that my sparkling personality and good looks would carry me to greater places than I had previously anticipated – that the ONLY reason people liked me was because I would “yes” them to death. Not a great game plan. Not everyone, but a shit ton of people will take advantage of you that way… the whole “don’t confuse my kindness for weakness” mantra will only take you so far, because it’s a dog Read more…

Support & Community

This really crazy thing keeps happening to me where I am talking about something with a friend and then hours/days/a week later, that EXACT thing either is said again in almost the same verbiage, or “the thing” actually happens. I believe this to be the law of attraction…. Manifesting your own destiny and fulfilling your own prophecies, with, of course, and do not take this lightly, the help of the universe. I really wanted to put this in a later post so I didn’t lose my non-believer friends, but honestly, I am done – in Read more…

Self-Love & Kindness, pt. 2

Have you begun to love yourself? Walking in kindness and compassion is so much easier when you are being your authentic self and identifying your insecurities. When we are vulnerable, we are the most loved. We fear greatly that if we let others see us outside our most perfect form, that they will think we aren’t good enough and leave, when in reality it is when we let our walls down that they are more likely to do the same. Until we let that true self show, we are shaming others and judging them as Read more…
